Meet Sydney W.

Sydney is a freshman attending Florida Institute of Technology, majoring in Aeronautical Science with Flight.

Sydney’s sense of adventure and aviation all started with her parents encouraging her to be anything she wanted to be. Sydney knew she wanted to love her job, and she loved to fly. At 14, Sydney started in glider training, working as a “line-person” pulling and preparing planes at the Glider Port. Sydney then switched over to a single-engine airplane and obtained her Private Pilot License this past May while in High School. Having the knowledge base of gliding and being able to apply the skills to her current training, Sydney soared…pun intended. Sydney is proud that she has maintained a 4.0 while competing competitively on the Varsity Nordic, Golf, and Swim teams throughout the last four years.

Currently, she is starting her freshman year in college at the Florida Institute of Technology (FIT). Sydney is now working towards her bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Science with Flight. This will allow her to pursue her flight training at a higher level. Within her first week on campus Sydney was appointed to the Vice President position of the Women’s Rowing Club at FIT. Sydney looks forward to what the future holds and is grateful for the Carolyn Kelly Memorial Education Fund scholarship award to help her make her dreams come true.
